IGT PLC operates in Italy through its subsidiary Lottomatica, based in Rome, which has some 1,700 employees and is the leading company in the Italian regulated gaming market, consisting of 6,600 companies and 140,000 operators.
Specifically, Lottomatica is the national concessionaire for the management of the Lotto Game and instant (Scratch) and deferred lotteries.
Over the years, Lottomatica has expanded by winning concessions and licenses to operate arcade machines (AWP and VLT), sports betting (prediction competitions and totalizer and fixed odds betting) and online games.

Since 2007 Lottomatica has adopted a responsible gaming program based on international standards shared by European Lotteries and the World Lottery Association, the two major world organizations competent in the field. The Program is divided into 10 areas of initiatives and concrete action, to manage the entire gaming process with the proper awareness and attention to its social impacts.

The program has three main objectives: to prevent excessive gambling, prevent underage gambling and establish partnerships in creating tools to support problem gamblers.
For this activity, the and online gaming sites have been awarded the "G4" Certificate, issued by a group of international experts, which attests to the attention and commitment to responsible gaming with rules and protocols that are at the forefront in Europe.
